Dance Dance Party Party – CBus Chapter!

THIS IS NOT A SHOW – it’s a Dance Dance Party Party ™ celebrating body positivity and joy in 2020 at our new CBus chapter!

Event 1 – Wednesday, Jan 22
7pm-8pm at Nest Creative; Doors open at 655pm
$6 – PRESALE ONLY, no sales at door!

Begun in 2006, by DDPP™ NYC
The set-up is simple: an hour of booty-busting tunes, a big room with the lights turned low, and women+ willing to let go. Anything and everything goes from r&b to alternative to Broadway to hip-hop to trap to polka to 80’s hits (along with a warm-up song at the start and a cool-down song at the end); 15 or so songs that will get everyone up and moving.

You come to dance.
You listen to fun, loud music.
You move with other like-minded women.
You can dress up ridiculously if you want to.
You can dress down freely if you want to.
This is a place to blow off steam, move, and work. it. out.

Through word of mouth alone, DDPP™ chapters have cropped up all over the USA and internationally. Women around the world are responding to this liberating atmosphere where they are free to goof around, shake their bodies without objectification and feel good about who they are.

DDPP™ is currently overseen by the Chicago Chapter, and has newly begun in CBus. Three rules for these events: No boys, no booze, no judgment. The Nest Theatre|Nest Creative is a registered Safe Space in Columbus, Ohio – LGBTIQ, non-binary/gnf, ages, sizes, orientations, ability welcome. Non-male participants only at this event.

TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE BY TUESDAY, JAN 21.

The Harold is the the original Chicago longform…form. It is complex, and takes a lot of practice, but once learned becomes the foundation for great improv, movies, TV and storytelling.

In Level 1 you will simply learn the mechanics. These basic parts of the form are important to master before digging into Level 2: The Organic Harold.

This class will be online. Pre-req: graduates of our Core Curriculum (or graduation of other similar program outside OH for virtual learning). You will need a smart phone, tablet or computer with microphone and cam to attend.
Please download Zoom before the first day of class.

On the place and the instructors:
Global instructors Tara DeFrancisco & Rance Rizzutto (co-founders) have been asked to teach in three outside institutions in Asia, Chicago & the UK during this Shelter-in-Place, and are bringing the joy home to share in Columbus and virtual friends – to those who need surrounding and continued education at this time. DeFrancisco & Rizzutto have taught professionally since 2003, with their performance careers beginning improv back in 1999, going pro as full time performing artists in 2002. They have performed over 6000 shows each in the mainstage and touring companies of iO Chicago, the illustrious Second City, and ComedySportz theatres; They have designed and implemented curriculum for each of those homes, and then designed and created the full curriculum for The Nest Theatre. They are known for their residency with Chaos Theory (the Saturday night house team of iO Chicago), work commercially in television/voiceovers, and have been brought as a duo to headline in 24 countries and 80 cities so far with their notorious show, “HERE, the (improvised) Musical”. The Nest Theatre is the only dedicated space to improv (short & long, musical, genre-based), sketch, experimental shows in central Ohio; The Nest & Nest Creative is home to 25 sold out Level One regular courses straight since 2016, and going strong. We have grown rapidly from 24 original students to over 500 performers and students (!) in our home, and 25 teams and shows running regularly in real time. The Nest is moving from their Broad Street location to the home of their dreams in Old North Columbus on High Street this winter. Our community is welcoming, hilarious, and this registered safe space in Ohio is hoping to keep their artistic space afloat during this time. All proceeds from class fees go straight to The CBus Improv notforprofit/#saveourstages, and shows are still live through quarantine for reference, all for free (with tip jar) on our page to students and public.
