The Shortform Course @ The Nest!

Always wanted to learn and perform a shortform comedy show like Whose Line, ComedySportz, and Wild’n Out? Here’s your chance! The Nest is now holding a shortform intensive for Nestie students! Shortform is celebrated all over the world and massively popular in Canada, Europe, and Australia for its playful energy and engagement with the audience. Like all other forms of improv, it boosts awareness, joy, and especially confidence/bold choices in faster-pacing shows. In addition, the designers of our Core Curriculum (focusing on scenework and relationship alongside savvy moves) are also 20+ year shortform performers and directors, and their crew will teach you not just the Games, but the ways to do a good scene with game on top. 4 weeks of class Mondays 7-830pm, Show tba Weds/Thursday 730pm for friends, fam, and general public in our mainstage. We’re excited to do this again – a bootcamp for Nesties to make bold moves and have another skillset in their toolbelt!

IMPORTANT: Attending the first class is mandatory. See our Refund Policy for details.

Level 1 Class – Mondays

Welcome to the formal program of improvisational training! Whether you want to perform, be better at team work or presentation for your job, or just be more engaged with your friends and family, this is the place to start!

In this course, we’ll jump into the beautiful world of “Yes, And” and study beginning fundamentals like basic games and the advantages of collaborative group work. We’ll enjoy exercises, talk basic theory, dive into basic scenework, push through object & environment, and establish the importance of relationship and truth onstage – and have an incredible amount of fun, getting away with pretending as adults.

IMPORTANT: Attending the first class is mandatory. See our Refund Policy for details.
